Planet Fitness powers up as HYROX South Africa’s Official Training Partner

In an innovative move, Planet Fitness has announced its partnership with HYROX South Africa as its Official Training Partner, and a countrywide search for eight Planet Fitness X HYROX Master Trainers – a first in Africa.

HYROX has been rocking the global scene as the fitness trend, branded ‘The Fitness Competition for Every Body’, with its competitive, addictive, and high intensity training routine that is accessible to anyone. In 2023, a total of 65 races were held around the world with 175,000 competitors taking part.

Power in partnership

As the only health club group with indoor running tracks, Planet Fitness is uniquely positioned to integrate and help build the HYROX community in South Africa. “With our eye on international trends, we could see the HYROX craze coming our way. This collaboration will allow us to introduce HYROX to a broader audience, further elevating the visibility and growth of the sport” says Tim Carter, head of brand, Planet Fitness. “Whether it’s HYROX or any form of training; we want people to know that our health clubs are where you’ll find, create and enjoy a vibrant training community, after all that’s why our members train.”

The Planet Fitness X HYROX Master Trainer South Africa search is on!

If you are passionate about fitness and training, hold a qualification in the field, and believe you have what it takes to join the community, we want you! We are looking for four ladies and four gentlemen to become Planet Fitness X HYROX Master Trainers nationwide. Your role will be to inspire, motivate and train members on their HYROX journey.

Enter here via HYROX website by following the prompts. Entries open on 13 December 2024 and close on 17 January 2025. Twenty semi-finalists will be selected and will move on to the next round. T&Cs apply.

The 20 semi-finalists will compete at a finale event to be held at Planet Fitness Olympus in Pretoria on 1 February 2025, where the chosen eight will be crowned the official Planet Fitness X HYROX Master Trainers.

The official Master Trainers will then be deployed in four Planet Fitness regions to introduce HYROX training to club members.

With forty-nine clubs, and five more opening in 2025, Planet Fitness will be innovating its training spaces to cater for this international training trend. What they call adaptive arenas, will give them flexibility to change up the functional training environment to suit members’ needs. “It’s a fluid, adaptive way of bringing the element of flexibility and variety to training, and we are looking forward to keeping our members motivated and challenged,” says Carter.
