Created in the 2000s, reborn for the streets of the future: this season adidas Originals is reintroducing two of the Three Stripes’ most iconic franchises from the turn of the millennium – Teamgeist and Megaride – for a new generation.
First introduced as the pattern for the football and jerseys used during 2006’s major summer tournament, Teamgeist has become a street-coded symbol for style, attitude, and expression – both on and off the pitch. Blending signature ’06 cutlines with loose fits made for now, heritage football tech is reborn in the form of bold neon tracksuits, shorts, T-shirts, hoodies, and more.
Megaride, meanwhile, taps into the vis-tech nostalgia of ’00s originals with a selection of dynamic footwear silhouettes. Known for popularizing adidas’ signature open-tunnel midsole technology, the Megaride was built as the pinnacle of running innovation, starting a whole new wave of visually appealing tech sneakers. Now, the bold silhouette has returned with four sculpted iterations. Featuring the iconic midsoles and textured mesh uppers, the Megaride OG, the Megaride 01, the Megaride Ghostride, and the Megaride S2 keep the look fast, futuristic, and lightweight.

Bringing the ’00s story to the modern day, a campaign featuring superstar footballer Lamine Yamal celebrates the return of the vis-tech revolution. Born in 2007, at just 18 years old, Yamal is already recognized as one of the best players in the world – his confidence and flair aligning with the bold, tech-inspired designs that feature throughout the Megaride collection.
Early ’00s DNA, remade for today – the Teamgeist and Megaride collection is available from August 14th at adidas.co.za and select stores nationwide.
