The B Lab Africa Pre-Summit 2025 Webinar, themed Africa’s Readiness in Action: Forging Purpose-Driven Partnerships for a Regenerative Future, brought together a diverse and influential mix of entrepreneurs, SMEs, investors, policymakers, and corporate leaders from across the continent to set the stage for Africa’s next chapter of sustainable growth.
Serving as a dynamic precursor to the B Lab Africa Summit 2025 (2–3 October at the Serengeti Golf and Wildlife Estate, Johannesburg), the one-and-a-half-hour virtual session explored how African-led partnerships could unlock climate resilience, equitable economic growth, and responsible investment at scale.
A Powerhouse Panel of Changemakers
The webinar featured an inspiring line-up of speakers shaping the future of African business:
- Dr. Kuzi Charamba – Founder & CEO, Tese i.o | Systems thinker unlocking regenerative development pathways.
- Atieno Otonglo – Marketing Development Manager, GSG Impact | Championing catalytic capital for inclusive transformation.
- Dr. Chisom Adeze – Founder, Diversity | Bridging health equity and entrepreneurship for African communities.
- Fabian Sukulu – Business Development Manager, B Lab Africa | Steering the “business for good” movement across the continent.
- Lucy Muigai – CEO, B Lab Africa | Architect of purpose-driven ecosystems for Africa’s next economy.
- Juliette Deloustal – Sustainability Lead, Attitude Hotels | Reimagining hospitality through circularity and impact.
Guided by the event’s core objectives, the discussion:
- Framed key challenges and opportunities on Africa’s sustainability journey.
- Showcased high-impact purpose-driven partnerships already reshaping sectors from hospitality to renewable energy.
- Engaged a broader ecosystem of innovators, investors, and ecosystem builders.
- Built momentum for deeper collaboration at the October Summit.
- From financing African-led climate solutions, to advancing gender equity in business, to scaling regenerative development models, the speakers offered tangible pathways for action.
“Africa’s greatest strength lies in our ability to work together across sectors and borders,” said Lucy Muigai, CEO of B Lab Africa. “Partnerships rooted in purpose are not just good for business — they are essential for building a resilient, regenerative future.”
“Because we were strongly in line with the philosophy of B Lab and creating a network, a community to have business as a force for good, in a country like Mauritius, we witnessed that most of the actions (social, environmental, etc.) came from the private sector. We knew the private sector could act and bring change, we could learn from each other, and we could show the path to other companies. In a continent that is facing climate change more than others, and also facing lots of inequalities, every business opportunity was an opportunity to face those challenges,” said Juliette Deloustal – Sustainability Lead, Attitude Hotels.
“Blended finance would not move at scale until we solved for infrastructure, especially around SME data. At Tese.io, we were building the pipes that connect credible ESG and impact data to finance flows, helping institutions de-risk capital and fund real outcomes,” remarked Dr. Kuzi, Founder & CEO, Tese i.o.
Looking Ahead to the October Summit
The ideas, case studies, and commitments shared during the webinar flowed directly into the B Lab Africa Summit 2025, themed Climate Modalities, ESG Impact Investment and Inclusive Growth: Africa’s Readiness to Take Action.
The October gathering would unite entrepreneurs, SMEs, corporates, investors, and policymakers to translate vision into measurable impact through workshops, co-creation sessions, and deal-making opportunities.
