Over 20 and 21 September, the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit plays host to a celebration of fashion, music and food at the The DStv Delicious International Food and Music Festival, Powered by LottoStar. This year promises a fusion of local and international sounds with Don Toliver, Kwesta and Inkabi Zezwe (Big Zulu & Sjava) joined by two of Amapiano’s biggest stars. Boasting almost 2 million Spotify monthly listeners, Kelvin Momo will channel his soulful sounds alongside a live band and award winning vocalist Babalwa M, while multi-platinum selling singer-songwriter Zee Nxumalo brings her infectious energy to the main stage.
Alongside these exciting sounds, the Proudly South African Delicious Food Mile will offer a culinary line-up of street-food, regional delicacies and dishes that celebrate South Africa’s gastronomic heritage. It’s all about sizzle and sear with homegrown and international flavours colliding across menus designed for sampling, savouring and sharing. From kotas and yiros to baos and gourmet burgers, festival goers can expect a combination of South African, Asian, Middle-Eastern, European and American favourites. This culinary tour of the world is only one ingredient of an epic weekend, as unforgettable experiences are paired with a commitment to grassroots upliftment.
While culture is celebrated across Saturday‘s main stage and the Proudly South African Delicious Food Mile, the Delicious Festival Trader Academy Powered by FoodBev SETA will spotlight the entrepreneurial excellence behind it. Established to build a more inclusive and resilient food economy, the Academy empowers emerging food entrepreneurs through mentorship, training, compliance support and trading opportunities. This year the Academy will platform 11 graduate entrepreneurs from the first 2 full programmes, who have shown remarkable growth on their journeys.
“From day one our mission has been to open doors to opportunity and market access,” says Jean Huddy, Head of Strategy and SMME Support at the Academy. “Seeing 11 graduates debut at the festival is a proud moment for the programme and a win for South Africa’s food business entrepreneurs. We couldn’t be more excited to see how far these SMMEs have come through the programme.” This milestone is in line with DStv Delicious Festival Powered by LottoStar striving to serve greatness at scale; by bringing festival goers fresh concepts, premium brands and heritage-focused indulgences.
FoodBev SETA CEO, Nokuthula Selamolela, added: “This programme proves the power of skills development in action. By equipping entrepreneurs with the right tools, we’re not just changing businesses, we’re shaping a stronger, more inclusive food and beverage economy for South Africa. I am especially proud to see our graduates gain not only valuable experience at the festival, but also the market access and exposure that will help their businesses grow.”
Extending the theme of blending the local and international at the DStv Delicious Festival Powered by LottoStar, the unique meals across the Proudly South African Delicious Food Mile gives festival goers diverse cuisines to enjoy. Just like the music and fashion on showcase, there’ll be a chance to experience South Africa‘s heritage on a plate, try out trending global flavours and indulge in festival staples. There’s something for every palate – from braai classics and exotic bites to street snacks and sweet treats that maintain the tempo. With all this to try, come early to take part in the goodness that anchors this magical weekend experience.
