Having last performed at Montecasino in Key Change Jonathan Roxmouth will be back at the piano to perform a special surprise with the orchestra. 2025 marks a significant homecoming in the career of Jonathan Roxmouth. This celebrated performer will not only captivate musical theatre fans with his MY FAVOURITE BROADWAY concert performances; he also returns to musical theatre where he reprises the role of Billy Flynn — the slick, charismatic, and cunning lawyer — in CHICAGO – The Musical, running at Artscape in Cape Town from 27 August to 28 September, before heading to his “home stage” at Montecasino’s Teatro from 03 October to 09 November 2025. He previously portrayed Billy Flynn during the New Zealand and China legs of the 2018/2019 CHICAGO World Tour. South African audiences last saw him on stage in 2017 as Che in Evita.
“Having mostly been overseas since 2021, I have missed the South African audience very much. Not only their response but the way they generously welcome an artist on stage – it’s grown into a special relationship that I am looking forward to rekindling. I am beyond excited and so elated to be back performing some beautiful musical theatre material. Sharing songs from where it all began back in 2007 onwards. To perform with Maestro Adam Howard and the Egoli Symphonic Orchestra elevates this concert to a once-in-a-lifetime show. In 2006 Jonathan Roxmouth made his local musical theatre debut in Grease. Followed by performances in Rock Me Amadeus, The Buddy Holly Story and A Handful of Keys he played leading roles in musicals including Beauty and the Beast, Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar, Sunset Boulevard, Sweeney Todd and West Side Story. It was the donning of the Phantom mask in Phantom of The Opera that firmly entrenched Jonathan in audience hearts locally forever and catapulted him onto global stages.
Acclaimed for his versatility on stage, Jonathan Roxmouth has starred in theatrical productions such as Perfect Nonsense and The Mystery of Irma Vep. His original creations include Piano State of Mind, We’re Still Standing, Lenny, Andrew, Steve and Me, Great Balls of Fire, Call Me Lee!, Topsy Turvy, and Stage by Stage. As a concert performer, he has headlined his own acclaimed shows like My Favourite Broadway, Swingle Bells!, The Musicals in Concert, and Phantasm.
