The KZN South Coast is a top holiday destination, boasting Blue Flag beaches and great family outings like Crocworld Conservation Centre in Scottburgh. This winter holiday, Crocworld is the place to be, with a great holiday club running from 30 June to 11 July, designed to keep children engaged in nature – concluding with a superb Crocworld Colour Run on Saturday, 12 July.

“We’re so excited to welcome our many new visitors and returning friends to Crocworld Conservation Centre this holiday,” said Susan Badat, Crocworld Conservation Centre Manager. “To make this holiday even more special and memorable, we’re launching the Crocworld Holiday Club, which gives young visitors a full day of animal and crafting fun. There are also many interesting creatures for visitors to meet, and lots more great fun to be had at Crocworld this winter.”

The Crocworld Holiday Club will include an action-packed programme designed to keep children entertained while learning about wildlife and conservation from 9am to 2pm. There are different options planned for the daily activities, which means children are welcome to attend several days of the holiday club. Activities will include:

·         Engaging vulture talks

·         Vulture feedings

·         Juvenile crocodile interactions

·         Scavenger hunts

·         Baby tortoise interactions

·         Leopard tortoise feedings

·         Snake tunnel Q&A

·         Playtime at the animal farm

·         Action games

·         Rock painting and crafts

·         Gardening

Jikaleza Outdoor Adventures

Children will also have the option of heading to Jikaleza Outdoor Adventures after the Crocworld Holiday Club from 2pm to 3pm for some fun aerial ziplining! The two zipline courses are suitable for children aged 7 and up, with the course involving treetop ziplining and aerial obstacle courses, all designed with the Coudou Pro safety system.

Crocworld Colour Run

Then on Saturday, 12 July, there will be the Crocworld Colour Run where families will enjoy the chance to get active in the beautiful coastal setting, before checking out the many interesting creatures at Crocworld. This starts at 8am and costs R100 per person, which includes 2 free colour packs.

Fish Eagle Café

The wraparound deck of the Fish Eagle Café at Crocworld is the perfect spot for viewing the Sardine Run, humpback whales, and dolphins. They have a great menu which includes great breakfasts, gourmet burgers, paninis, waffles, milkshakes, and more! They’ve also added delectable eggs Benedict, spare ribs, rump salad, and loaded chips to the menu.

Crocworld’s Many Visitor Attractions

Crocworld Conservation Centre also has daily animal interactions, crocodile feedings, and talks that bring holidaymakers face-to-face with fascinating reptiles and birds. Some of the centre’s highlights include Henry, a 125-year-old Nile crocodile who is believed to be the oldest known Nile crocodile in captivity, as well as his long-time companion Colgate.

The centre is also home to a variety of rescued and protected species, including farm animals and exotic birds, as well as more than 200 indigenous species located in the coastal forest. Children can enjoy the barnyard animals and playground, while the centre’s new Ranger Guide booklet, available at the Curio Shop, adds educational fun with enriching activities that support local wildlife education efforts.
