Nona International Brings Two of Europe’s Leading Design Houses to Sandton Gate

New premium tableware and homeware store now open, uniting Germany’s ASA Selection with Belgium’s name-designer house, Serax

Nona International has opened its doors at Sandton Gate Central, Johannesburg, bringing together two of Europe’s most distinct design houses under one roof for the first time locally: Germany’s ASA Selection and Belgium’s Serax. The store offers a curated range of premium tableware and homeware, from everyday essentials to named-designer collector pieces, with the full collection now available in store.

ASA Selection brings a near-obsessive devotion to getting the everyday object exactly right — Bauhaus discipline softened with real warmth, glazes made to age gracefully, and pieces designed not for a season but for the next decade. The range spans the soft, organic Coppa collection; Saisons, ASA’s Portuguese stoneware heartland; the playful Poke; and the colour of the Sarabi and Ajana glassware and Moribana’s painterly glazes.

Serax takes the opposite approach, treating the table as a canvas for named designers. Its collections at Nona International include Feast by chef Yotam Ottolenghi, bold and exuberant; Inku by three-Michelin-star chef Sergio Herman, refined and restrained; Piet Boon, architectural and understated; Terres de Rêves by ceramicist Anita Le Grelle, handcrafted with reactive glazes so no two pieces are alike; and Pure by food author Pascale Naessens, built around simple, honest forms.

The opening was celebrated with an intimate evening on Thursday, 25 June. The highlight was a tablescape presentation by stylist Diane Bibby, who set the collection around a table to show the pieces as they’re meant to be used, paired with a wine toast from South African estate Kleine Zalze.

Nona International is now open to the public at Sandton Gate Central, with the ASA Selection and Serax collections available for browsing and purchase in store.
