Martin Bester Releases New Single ‘Angel’ Featuring Ross Learmonth in Support of Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels

Jacaranda FM’s Martin Bester has released his feel-good new single ‘Angel’, featuring Ross Learmonth, as a musical tribute to the life-changing work of the station’s flagship community initiative, Good Morning Angels.

Martin has long wanted to create a song that captures the spirit and impact of Good Morning Angels, an initiative he has passionately led for many years. The upbeat pop track, co-written with Ross Learmonth and Ewald Jansen van Rensburg, who also produced the song, beautifully conveys the message of accepting help when you’re at your lowest and recognising that everyone needs an ‘angel’ sometimes.

For Martin, writing a song inspired by Good Morning Angels has long been a personal dream. “This is something I’ve wanted to do for a very long time,” says Martin. “Good Morning Angels has become such a massive part of my life and my journey at Jacaranda FM. Over the years, we’ve witnessed incredible moments of humanity, kindness and hope, and I always felt those emotions deserved a song.”

The upbeat pop track captures the emotional reality of reaching a low point in life and learning to accept help from others, while reminding listeners that everyone needs an angel sometimes. At its core, ‘Angel’ is a song about hope, compassion, and the power of people showing up for one another when it matters most.

When it came time to collaborate, Martin says Ross Learmonth was the immediate choice. “Ross has been a friend of the station and a supporter of Good Morning Angels for many years, so asking him to be part of this felt completely natural,” Martin explains. “I’ve also wanted to work with Ross for a very long time. He’s an incredible songwriter, unbelievably passionate about music, and so pedantic in the best possible way when it comes to getting every detail right in a song. Watching him work in studio was genuinely inspiring.”

Ross says joining the project was an easy decision. “Teaming up with Martin was a no-brainer,” Ross adds. “I am a big fan of Martin as a human being, as a DJ, as a musician and especially the work he does with Jacaranda FM and Good Morning Angels. I know it’s been a dream of his to write a song for Good Morning Angels and I am so glad we could make it happen. I am honoured to be a part of this and I hope it brings even more strength to the angels and what they do.”

Beyond the music itself, ‘Angel’ also carries a meaningful purpose. Martin will be donating all of his songwriting royalties from the song to Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels fund, helping the initiative continue changing lives and supporting individuals and families in need across South Africa.

Over the last 20 years, Good Morning Angels has become one of South Africa’s most impactful radio-led initiatives, raising millions of rand for causes ranging from medical assistance and education to housing, mobility, and disaster relief.

‘Angel’ is now available to stream on all major digital platforms. Listeners are encouraged to download and share the track, knowing that every stream contributes to a legacy of kindness that has defined Jacaranda FM for the past 40 years.

Listen to Breakfast With Martin Bester every weekday morning between 06:00 and 09:00 only on Jacaranda FM and stream ‘Angel’ here: https://martinbesterrosslearmonth.lnk.to/Angel.
