RED ZONE, A New eVOD Original Film

 eVOD proudly presents Red Zone, a new action thriller directed by acclaimed filmmaker Christo Davids. The film will be available exclusively on eVOD starting March 28, 2025.

Red Zone takes viewers into the heart of Westbury, Johannesburg, a community plagued by gang violence, where recently graduated paramedic Wade Jacobs (Cantona James) finds himself torn between professional duty and family loyalty.

Set against the backdrop of Westbury’s notorious gang territories, Red Zone follows Wade Jacobs, a young man who has defied the odds to escape the cycle of violence by becoming a paramedic. However, his commitment to his new path is tested when his uncle Sean Jacobs (Roderick Jaftha), leader of the feared ‘Red Bones’ gang, falls victim to a drive-by shooting.

Despite Westbury being designated as a ‘red zone’ – where emergency services require police escorts due to the risk of robbery and violence – Wade and his partner Zahra Ahmed (Carla Classen) break protocol to save his uncle’s life. This decision plunges Wade into a dangerous turf war between rival gangs, putting both his career and life at risk.

This film explores the complex reality of communities where violence is endemic, and the difficult choices faced by those trying to make a difference. It’s about family, loyalty, and the steep price of redemption.

CAST AND PRODUCTION

The film stars rising talent Cantona James as Wade Jacobs, alongside veteran actor Roderick Jaftha as gang leader Sean Jacobs, and Carla Classen as paramedic partner Zahra Ahmed.

Red Zone is produced by Clive Morris Productions, known for creating compelling South African content.
